Space Ace App Reviews

Good fun then, good fun now.

So maybe a few scenes have been left out but to be honest...after 27 years since my Arcade stint, I dont remember ALL of them. The game is being sold on nostalgia power but the devs did a good job with it. The price is a little steep (if you compare with Dragons Lair) but we all know that weve wasted more money for less entertainment at some point in our lives. Its still good, mindless fun. A few bugs, that SHOULD be solved to help jump to 5 stars 1.) the game Icon is blurry...makes me think I forgot my contacts again - trivial, maybe but its MY dime. 2.) if you turn off the game in mid-play then resume later, the controls wont appear on the screen the first time around. You will die and on replay, the controls will re-appear. This doesnt happen if youve finished a level (scene) and switched off.

Retro Heaven

While its missing some original content, this is a great portable adaptation of the arcade original otherwise. Pretty much the sci-fi version of Dragons Lair, I dropped a lot of quarters into playing this game as a kid and never beat it. More of a game based on pre-determined patterns than personal strategy, this game still delivers, and I am thrilled to be able to carry it with me everywhere I go. Worth investing in, but only 4 out of 5 stars base on the price and the missing content. This one is a classic!

Pretty Good

5 stars when they update the icon!! But I really enjoy these types of games. Id love to see them add a bit more content too since its pretty short, but it was worth 5 bucks based on the nostalgia factor alone. So it was worth it IMO.

Pretty good

I loved dragons lair as a kid and watched the cartoons on tv for both dragons lair and space ace.. I thought the price was pretty high but figured Id give it a go. I always get a giggle out of the voices and the funny little things the characters do and it really brought me back to the good ol days. :) my only beef is that the game was over before I knew it and the game play moved so fast I couldnt watch all that awesome animation. Great game though.. Is it worth 5 bucks? If you were born after 1980 you probably wont think so.

Don

Very disappointed by space ace if you play the easy mode (33% of the game) you can see the moves to help you but the medium and difficult mode you dont have any hints for the moves, I contacted the technical support about this and they told me maybe in a future upgrade… The game was published in June 2010 and no updates…. So you cannot see the full game because you have no clues about the moves, so for me it doesnt worth the price, 4.99 for playing the easy mode its too expensive. I dont understand why they did a so great job with dragons lair (all moves in all modes) but not in space ace…

A Fantastic Classic

This is a great port of the original. Anyone can enjoy this amazingly fun and unique game because of the infinite lives option. Its a travesty that Dragons Lair is not for sale in Canada.

Space ace iPhone

Now that you have solved the screen black issue. 10 out of 10. An absolute classic. For a Bluth fan Cant ask for more ! Now Please. For a fan DRAGONS LAIR 2........ Time Warp! Please. ..............please?!!!

A classic!

Must have for the classic gamers collection.

Classic but lacking

Same game I remember as a kid but all the cut scenes are missing.

iOS8 updated has messed things up

The latest update to iOS8 has prevented my Dragons Lair and Dragons Lair 2 from working. Space Ace still works. I tried leaving this comment on the Dragons Lair app reviews, but the system will not let me, saying I never purchased it. I confirmed that they are on my "purchased" portion of my account. Dont know whats going on. Please fix!

cool!!!

great game!!! buy it and beat it in less than 5 minutes!!! cinematic option please!!! the action is so fast so you cant whatch this piece of art!!!

Error during instalation

Error during ipod sync: "The Space Ace was not installed on the iphone because it could not be verified.

WARNING to Consumers

This game will be most likely be replaced with a new version. You will probably have to buy it again for $4.99. The developer has done this with Dragons Lair 1 and 2. Buyer beware. The one star rating is an evaluation of company trust and willingness to listen to consumer concerns to fix game issues.

Wow! Flashbacks!

I love this game. It’s worth the money, I use to spend so many quarters back in the days and waited in line at the arcade just to play this game.

Glitch

The games directional guide is not working.

Retro Wonderful

I played this back in the day in the arcade. Game was hard then to. But sooo much fun. Sometimes they controls r a bit touchy, but who cares. This brought a great big smile to my face every time I was playing, no matter if I died or not. Now all I need is Dragons Lair 2 and all will be well with the world.

Awesome

Bring on Cliff Hanger!!!

Looks Great

This game is fantastic to look at and play. The only thing is, you can beat this game in under 20 minutes (Seriously). I read another guys post who gave it 1 star and he said the same thing. I thought he was exagerating. Dont get me wrong, the graphics, video, and quality of the port to the iPod/iPhone are 5 stars worthy. The $5 for 20 minutes is sort of steep. I was thinking around $3. Overall, the game is a great import from the classic arcade game that I blew tons of money on. Just like everyone else, I eagerly await the Dragons Lair games too! Those games were iconic back in the day and they were never really well adapted to the console platforms. For some reason, it works great on the iPod/iPhone. Its a good buy overall just too short.

Missing Levels

At least one level is missing, the roller-skating maze level isnt here. Also, you could choose NOT to energize and continue playing. Works great, but not the full game. Also, can we get an unlock full movie so we can watch it all uncut? That would be nice.

Digital Leisure rules

To sologigolos below: the roller skating section is in there. Ive played through it many times. Its all in there it just depends on if youre playing cadet captain or ace. To dirkthebroken below: EA made the dragons lair port not these guys so go tell EA like the rest of us have and watch your pleadings fall on deaf ears. When iOS 4.0 came out it killed Dragons Lair and EAs subsequent "FIX" killed it even more. This was months ago. EA doesnt care. Dragons Lair LLC on the other hand, were and continue to be on top of things and have kept Space Ace going strong. Kudos to Dragons Lair LLC. One of the best ports of this game ever except maybe for the Daphne emulator. Now, where the heck is Dragons Lair 2? Add that and you have a confirmed instant buy from me.
